Celebrating 30 Years of Pokémon and the best I can give you is a Meh with a shrug

It's a little unfortunate that my friends aren't keeping up with Pokémon or even deep into the ROM hack/fangame scene with me these days because we could have been chatting (even a little bit) about the announcement trailer for the Generation 10 titles Pokémon Winds/Waves . I say "even a little bit" because after watching that short video I don't have a lot to say about it, and you know damn well that there'll probably be several YouTubers out there who'll bust out those "analysis" videos in an effort to dissect the trailer and mine for as many clues, hints, references, call-backs, Easter Eggs and so on as they can. It happens. But I wanted to share my thoughts about the trailer and take some time to think about the many years I've spent as a fan of this giant franchise now that it has turned 30 years old. Hopefully those of you who'll read this post are Pokémon fans too and perhaps you've taken time to reflect on your years as a fan ...

Checking In (Monday 23 February 2026)

It only took a couple of weeks but finally, the Wi-Fi issue has been sorted out and I can get back to work without needing to go into the lounge in order to connect to the internet. It's been a full house here with visitors and relatives staying over to help out while my mother recovers from a surgical procedure that she had over a week ago. The procedure went well and she is healing up fine so no worries.  Have a good week and take care.

Moved In (Checking In Tuesday 3 February 2026)

It took a couple of days but phew  done and done 😁 moving in was Phase 1 and now's on to Phase 2 - unpacking and putting things in place. The house is a little bigger, there's running (borehole) water and there's someone else staying on the property who can help us with the yard work so those are the big positives. On the other hand though, the house gets pretty loud because it's got an asbestos roof. Not exactly great during times when you're alone in the house with all that noise going on around you haha, how the hell are you going to hear any knocking at the gate (which is maybe 100-200 metres or so away from the front door)? Wi-Fi connection is going to be a little rough here, especially mobile, because just like at the previous place my room is a couple of rooms away from where the Starlink router has been mounted outside. I thought there was a way to expand the signal range without needing to buy a better router? If you happen to know more about this please c...
