Checking In (Friday 6 September 2024)

Hello hello, how's it going? I have some good news to share with you, something which I hope will be a nice way to end the week. Behold...

It took a while but here we are with the internet upgrade that I had been hoping for. That's the router in the photo above, sitting on one of our old TVs in the dining room. Bought from one of the local mobile networks for $200 USD and monthly we'll be paying $45 for a 5mbps semi-unlimited data package (the actual data cap 1TB but nobody here will be live-streaming or online all day everyday so I doubt we'll reach that cap...unless of course someone decides to save all their super downloading for the days just before the subscription ends. Hmm...).

For any of you reading this and shaking your head at the price and the speeds for that price, I totally understand because I know it's a rip off but that's the best package being offered currently outside of what Elon Musk's Starlink is apparently asking for (lowest price is about $30 monthly for an unlimited package of speeds between 20 and 100mbps). For a long time the local ISPs have been charging beyond crazy prices for their services and now that Starlink is trying to break into the market, the hope is that this will force the ISPs to become competitive and lower their prices. Fingers crossed.

So thanks to this upgrade it means I can finally get back to being more consistent with content releases, something I hadn't been able to do pretty much since 2019 when I started. If there are platforms which you would like me to check and try out as places where I can put out content, I'll be able to do that now so please reach out via the comments section below and let me know. 

Walkthrough for Pokemon Saiph 2



In my previous post I had said that I was waiting for creator Vytron to release the remaining Mystery Gift codes so that I could add them to the walkthrough. I reached out to him yesterday on Discord and he gave me the go ahead to wrap the walkthrough as it is because he won't be working on Saiph 2 very much any more. He's currently busy working on Pokemon Sors 2, which is the fourth game in his series of Pokemon ROM hacks. I will have the walkthrough ready next week. If any of you are new to this site, you can find all my previous walkthroughs here. My latest guide is for a game called Pokemon Righteous Red, maybe you've heard of it?

    Nice to see you back! You're the only person I've ever supported on Patreon and it's because your walkthroughs are so detailed and have saved me so much headaches in my nuzlockes. Thanks so much!

    As a side question. have you tried RPGmaker games like Pokemon Anil/GruelingGold/RBGenesis? I'm a bit selfishly introducing you to these as I plan to nuzlocke them in the future :p

      Hello, how are you? Thank you for the comment and for being a supporter. It is great to be back, I just hope I can balance the content work with helping my younger brother and our dad, that's what has been keeping me super busy this year. Wish me luck :D

      Those particular games I don't know of, sorry. But I have been interested in making walkthroughs for fanmade games, it's just that I am usually swamped with ROM hacks that I want to write guides for so I don't get the time for fanmade games. Have you checked on YouTube for any handy Let's Play videos for either of those games?

      Yes, I’ve gone through those and for the most part, apart from some grueling gold areas, I’m set for the nuzlockes!

      But yeah, it’ll be interesting to see you try fan game walkthroughs sometime!

      If you Don’t mind me asking, what rom hacks are on the horizon for you?

      Thank you. There are some really amazing fan games out there that I've seen over the years so finding some to write guides for will not be a problem. Just getting the time for them though, that's going to be the real challenge. I'll look into it next year and see if I can do one rom hack guide then one fan game guide and alternate like that going forward. What I like about rom hacks is that there are a number of helpful tool programs that I can use if there's no documentation available for a game that I'm writing a guide for. I don't know if there are such programs for fan games, hopefully there are at this point. Maybe you know of some?

      Had I not been super busy this year I wanted to polish up my walkthrough for Pokemon Adventure Red Chapter. The guide is a couple of years old now but you still find people playing the game so an updated guide is needed. I also received requests for Pokemon Sweet, Pokemon Team Rocket Edition, Pokemon Shiny Gold and a few more. I also wanted to update the guide for Pokemon Azure Horizons because Hacksrepairman released a bug fixes updated several months ago with some changes. But given how the year has gone so far, some of those projects will have to wait until next year. Currently I am wrapping up the guide for Pokemon Saiph 2, that will be out this week.

Checking In (Monday 9 October 2023)

It's been a busy couple of weeks here, so I hope you can excuse the silence. Plus we didn't have any data until this past weekend. Managed to buy 15GB, if used properly I think that can cover us for at the next least 2 weeks. Let's see how that goes, eh? Despite things getting busy, I hope to make the most of the pockets of free time that I get.  Walkthrough Update for Pokemon Liquid Crystal It is FINALLY done. Took longer than it should have because the original walkthrough had a number of errors and the game itself has its own list of issues so I had to contact the creator. There are a few questions that I've sent to him concerning some events and I am still waiting to hear back from him. In the meantime... Walkthrough Update for Pokemon Azure Horizons Hacksrepairman  released another fix for the game in March of this year but I was busy with other walkthroughs at the time.
